Team Hamworthy complete Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike Challenge
Congratulations to Donna Fletcher, Jen Clayton, Sally Ennis, Yvette Smith, and Nicky Woods, who all braved the typically unpredictable British weather to successfully compete in the gruelling Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike 2024, in support of MacMillan Cancer Support.
On the 7th of September 2024, after months of dedicated planning, training and fundraising, the team raised £3,500 for this very worthwhile charity – surpassing their original goal to raise £250 each! This money will help the charity to provide vital cancer services, research and campaigns to achieve cancer care and support the cancer workforce.
Starting at Corfe Castle, the Mighty Hike took the team across mixed terrain, steep inclines and descents, with stunning sights across Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Harry’s Rocks. Setting off at 7.40 am, the team braved the rain (and blisters!) and crossed the finish line in 8.5 hours.
Speaking after the challenge, Jen Clayton said,
“The Mighty Hike looked extremely challenging, and it didn’t disappoint. Despite the rain, which was quite refreshing at times, crossing the finish line was a fantastic moment”.
